WARRANTY

LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY

LOCO Scooters warrants the original purchaser that your Electric Scooter or e-bike shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use during the warranty period. Except otherwise provided by applicable law, the warranty lasts for the period of time specified on the product specification table. Notwithstanding the foregoing clause, LOCO Scooters does not exclude, limit or suspend the minimum legal warranty period imposed by applicable law. LOCO Scooters does not warrant the operation of the Product will be uninterrupted or error-free.

REMEDIES

If an original manufacturing defect is found and a valid claim is received by LOCO Scooters within the Warranty Period, we will either (1) repair the Product at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, (2) replace the Product with a new or refurbished product, or (3) refund the Product, excluding potential shipping costs. It will be at our sole discretion which remedy we pursue and we will always repair the Product where it is possible for us to do so. In the event of a defect, to the fullest extent permitted by law, these are your sole and exclusive remedies. LOCO Scooters reserves the right to use original or non-original parts for repairs undertaken. Non-original parts used will always be to the same specification as original parts. Shipping and handling charges may apply except where prohibited by applicable law. Any replacement hardware product will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or thirty (30) days, whichever is longer, or for any additional period of time that may be applicable in your jurisdiction.

HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE

In accordance with applicable law, we may require the customer to furnish proof of purchase details and warranty card with identifying serial number of the Product.

For customers in the UK, the warranty is a parts-only warranty. This means that you will be required to demonstrate what component is faulty and we will ship you that part. You can repair it yourself or bring it to a repair centre local to you. We do not cover any charges applied by such repair centres. Brexit has made it impossible to accept an item for repair, from the UK to Ireland, without having to pay customs charges each way, amounting to approximately 56% of the original value of the item. You should ensure that you have the capability to carry out any repairs yourself, or identify a suitable repair centre near you, before you purchase any electric scooter or e-bike from the UK.

RETURN GUIDELINES

Overall Return Guidelines are applicable only to products purchased by you directly from LOCO Scooters. All returns must meet the overall guidelines in order for the individual return policy to apply. All product returns require a return order number. You may obtain a return order number by contacting LOCO Scooters warranty support service through email to repairs@locoscooters.ie. Return shipping costs may be deducted from your refund depending on the reason for return (eg. if a return was initiated for a defective product that powers on and works properly upon inspection). Products that are received by LOCO Scooters in any of the following conditions are not eligible for return and will be rejected; Any product not purchased from LOCO Scooters, any product with missing, damaged, altered, or otherwise unreadable serial number label, any product that exhibits physical damage, any product which appears tampered with, customised, or altered in any way by the user or a party connected with, or under the instruction of the user.

FREE COLLECT & RETURN PERIOD

For the period of 14 days from the date on which your new product was delivered, we offer free collection and return of the item in the event that it requires a repair*. This is a goodwill offer and not one that forms part of any warranty entitlement. This is valid for both warranty and non-warranty issues, we understand that it will be disappointing to need a repair so soon after purchasing an item, and for that reason we are offering this free collection and return. Once this 14 day period has expired, you are welcome to use our nationwide collection and return repair service, at a cost to you of €30. Outside of the Dublin area, it is your responsibility to retain the original packaging, and you will need to repackage the item should you wish to send it to us for service.

*This free collect and return offering does not apply in the UK due to the difficulties in accepting items cross-border post-Brexit. Any item shipped to us from the UK has 29% of duties payable to The Revenue Commissioners on arrival, and 26% on return to the UK, payable to HMRC.

SPURIOUS WARRANTY CLAIMS

LOCO Scooters defines a spurious warranty claim as one where no issue exists or where the issue was found to have been caused by the customer through the incorrect assembly or usage of the item. In such instances, any costs incurred will be borne by the customer in exclusivity. This includes, but is not limited to, collection and delivery/return costs including fuel, tolls or payments to third parties, as well as our standard rates for collection and delivery/return and any time spent by a representative of LOCO (typically a mechanic) working on or inspecting the item.

LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS

Batteries are covered by the warranty for the first year or the first 10,000 km travelled, whichever comes first. Consumable items and items subject to wear and tear are not covered by warranty. These items require service and replacement at intervals and they are outlined below for clarity;

  • Tyres
  • Inner tubes
  • Rubber foot pads
  • Handlebar grips
  • Brake cables
  • Brake pads
  • Brake discs
  • Brake handles
  • Paint
  • Rubber bungs
  • Wheel bearings
  • Missing parts
  • Mudguards
  • Mechanical damage such as snapped or damaged bolts or other parts
  • Any accidental damage or damage caused intentionally / recklessly

The warranty covers original manufacturer defects. The warranty will be void if the part which is submitted for repair or maintenance demonstrates signs of misuse or handling that is contrary to the instructions set out in the user manual including but not limited to inappropriate use or incorrect maintenance and storage or signs of crash damage. Crash damage voids the product warranty entirely.

The warranty will be void if the part which is submitted for repair or maintenance demonstrates signs of alteration or customisation by the user or any party connected to, or instructed by the user.

SPARE PARTS

No warranty is provided for spare parts supplied by LOCO and installed either by the customer or a connected party other than LOCO Scooters Ltd.

WATER INGRESS

Damage caused to the product by the ingress of water is not covered by the limited warranty. It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the ingress protection (IP) rating of your product, as stipulated by the manufacturer, and only use the product in line with this IP rating. Most electric scooters and bikes are not waterproof and should not be used in wet conditions, when it is raining or when the ground is wet - as to do so puts the product at risk of electronic failure or circuit damage due to the ingress of water. We understand that this is not ideal, given that customers may wish to, or need to use their scooters in wet conditions and for this reason we offer an additional optional water damage warranty at the point of sale, starting from €69 per year, or €99 for 2 years. This additional water damage warranty is offered to the customer both in store and online, and if you decline to purchase this cover, your product warranty will be voided by any water ingress or damage associated with water ingress. If you have purchased the water damage warranty alongside your product, then your product is covered for water damage for 12 months or 2 years, depending on which option you purchased. Water damage to an electric scooter or bike renders the entire limited product warranty void. Our optional water damage warranty can only be purchased alongside the product at the point of sale and cannot be added at a later date. Our water damage warranty covers repairs only, so in the event that your scooter is water damaged, we will repair, rather than replace it. We cannot guarantee that your scooter will not become water damaged, but we can guarantee that if it becomes water damaged, and you have purchased this water damage warranty, your repair will be free for any water damaged items.

FIRMWARE ALTERATIONS

Any non-stock firmware alterations made by the user will render this limited warranty void. Non-stock firmware may also create a fire hazard due to the risk of melted cabling internally.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

Items such as brakes, folding mechanisms and other adjustable parts require periodic servicing and adjustment to ensure safety and optimum performance. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all adjustable parts are secure and safe for use – if any doubt arises please contact LOCO Scooters on 01 5242062. Care should be taken to routinely ensure that all nuts and bolts are securely tightened and not loose or missing. Tyres should be correctly inflated to the specification as advertised on the side wall of the tyre.

REPAIRS AND SERVICING

For the duration of the limited warranty period, all repairs and servicing is to be undertaken exclusively by LOCO Scooters or pre-authorised partners. Any such work undertaken by an unauthorised party will render the limited warranty void. It is the intention of this notice to establish the provisions of this limited warranty in a transparent and accessible manner. LOCO Scooters may, at its discretion, make an exception to the above where reasonable. It will be the sole decision of LOCO Scooters to make such exceptions in this regard.

SERVICE & REPAIR WARRANTY

We endeavour to ensure that all electric scooter repairs undertaken by LOCO Scooters are to an exceptional standard. We use manufacturer original parts where available and in the absence of original manufacturer spare parts we use spurious parts to the same specification as the original.

For the period of 30 days following any repair carried out by LOCO Scooters a full parts and labour warranty applies. That is to say that if a part installed by LOCO Scooters fails within 30 days of its installation, due to an original defect in the part used or its installation, LOCO Scooters will provide a new part and install it at no cost to the customer. For the subsequent period up to 11 months, the warranty applies only to the part. That is to say that if a part installed by LOCO Scooters fails between 31 and 365 days after its installation, due to an original defect in the part used, LOCO Scooters will provide a new part free of charge and the labour cost involved in completing the repair will be borne by the customer.

Exclusions to the service and repairs warranty are the same as those exclusions to the original product warranty which are;

  • Tyres
  • Inner tubes
  • Rubber foot pads
  • Handlebar grips
  • Brake cables
  • Brake pads
  • Brake disc
  • Brake handles
  • Paint
  • Rubber bungs
  • Wheel bearings
  • Missing parts
  • Mudguards
  • Mechanical damage such as snapped or damaged bolts or other parts
  • Any accidental damage or damage caused intentionally / recklessly

Any repairs carried out by LOCO in relation to water damage are done so without any warranty or guarantee, as the full extent of water damage may continue to reveal itself over time, and we can only repair the issue that is in front of us at the time of the repair. It is likely that re-occurring issues will be ongoing in respect of scooters that have been water damaged.

The following does not apply to pre-order items and you should consult the product page onsite, or contact us for a delivery timeline before you place your order.
All items on our website listed as "in-stock" are held in stock by us in Dublin and ready to ship/deliver or for collection. Customised items that require an upgrade, such as upgrading to solid tyres require us to unbox the scooter and carry out the required upgrade in our service centre. As such, normal delivery timelines may not apply to these orders, depending on how busy our service centre is at the time of ordering.

For all remote orders paid for by card on our website or over the phone, delivery in ROI is typically 1 - 3 business days from the time of purchase via our shipping partners DPD & UPS. If you place your order after 5pm on a weekday, or at any time over the weekend, it is considered to have been placed at 9am the day after or Monday, and the delivery timeline of 1-3 business days applies from then.

If you have any specific requirements in relation to delivery please note these on your order or give us a call on 01 5242062 to let us know and we will always do our best to accommodate you.

Shipping to the UK

We ship to Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. Shipping to the UK is typically 2-5 business days. We cannot guarantee shipping times to parts of the UK that are remote or any Islands. This may change due to the variable nature of stock, and if your order requires modification such as puncture proof tyres installed. If you place your order after 5pm on a weekday, or at any time over the weekend, it is considered to have been placed at 9am the day after or Monday and the delivery timeline of 1-3 business days applies from then.

The pricing noted at checkout includes customs duty, taxes and VAT. You do not have to worry about any further charges after checkout and payment.

For shipping to the UK, we need a valid address, postcode, email and phone number to pass on to our shipping partner (DPD or UPS). For oversized items that cannot be shipped using standard couriers, or may need to be shipped on pallets, we use third party hauliers and such oversized items cannot be tracked in the same way that parcels shipped with UPS & DPD can, and delivery times may be slightly longer.
