Electric bike FAQs
How much is an electric bike in Ireland?
Most of our commuter eBikes are between €1,000 and €1,500, with compact folding eBikes for less. Through the Cycle to Work scheme you can save up to 52% on an eBike and safety gear up to €1,500, or up to €3,000 for a cargo eBike.
Can I buy an electric bike on the Cycle to Work scheme?
Yes. Your employer buys the eBike and accessories and you repay from your gross salary over up to 12 months, saving income tax, USC and PRSI. You can use the scheme once every four years. Build your quote online and send it to your employer.
How far can an electric bike go on one charge?
Most commuter eBikes manage around 45 to 65 km of real-world riding on a charge. Range depends on rider weight, assist level, hills, wind and tyre pressure, so we quote a realistic range on every bike, not just the manufacturer's figure.
What is the difference between a cadence sensor and a torque sensor?
A cadence sensor gives full assist as soon as the pedals turn, however hard you push, so it is the easiest ride for hills and stop-start traffic. A torque sensor matches assist to how hard you pedal, which feels more like a normal bike.
Do I need a licence or insurance for an eBike in Ireland?
No. A pedal-assist eBike with a motor up to 250W that stops assisting at 25 km/h is treated like a regular bicycle in Ireland, so there is no licence, tax or insurance needed. A helmet and lights are strongly recommended.
Do you service and repair electric bikes?
Yes. Our Dublin 15 workshop services and repairs eBikes, specialising in Fiido and Engwe, and most services are done within 48 hours. See our eBike repairs and servicing page for service options and booking.
