Hi everyone,

Before we wrap up for Christmas we just wanted to drop by with some useful information for those of you that have bought scooters as gifts for Christmas.

Most Segway and Xiaomi electric scooters require you to set up and account via their app before the speed on them is unlocked (they also won’t stop beeping until you do this). For Xiaomi, download the Mi home app. For Segway, download the Segway Ninebot app. For full details check out your user manual which has all the details required to register your new electric scooter.

Most electric scooters require a kickstart. That is to say that before you use the accelerator / throttle you should be already moving. Kick the scooter off two or three times and when you are moving you should then user the accelerator and not before then.

If your scooter is going much slower than you expected it may be in pedestrian mode or one of the slower modes. Toggling between modes on Xiaomi and Segway electric scooters is done by double-tapping the power button. For Kugoo and other electric scooters there’s a mode button on the LCD.

Check that the tyres are correctly inflated before first use. The correct tyre pressure is written on the side-wall of the tyres and is typically between 50 and 55 PSI. You should be checking the tyres weekly and inflate them if necessary - this is the best way of avoiding punctures. Punctured tyres are not covered under the product warranty so it is in your best interest to ensure that pressure is maintained.

The best way to prolong the life of the scooter's battery is to avoid totally flattening it if possible. Ideally you should get it back on charge once it drops to between 5% and 10%. It takes about 5 hours to charge most electric scooter batteries so if you are setting them up on Christmas Eve we recommend you leave them plugged in overnight. Chargers have overcharge, overheat and surge protection so no issue with plugging them in overnight.

If you have an urgent query on Christmas Day / Stephen’s Day please send an email to info@locoscooters.ie and if possible, we will reply to you. We are offering this support in the knowledge that a lot of these are gifts for kids and it can be stressful for parents when there’s trouble with a gift on the big day.

Once again thank you for your business throughout 2021, we would like to wish you and your family a safe and happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.

Regards,

Paddy, Jason & the team at LOCO
